You\u2019ll be camping between the salt marshes and the mudflats, just a stone\u2019s throw from the Wadden Sea. No rows of tents on a tightly packed field, but spacious pitches on grass with lovely views. Ideal for those seeking peace and quiet, for couples, for solo travellers and for families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The toilet block is 75 metres from the farm. Free hot showers, clean toilets, a laundry room and a fully equipped campsite kitchen with a hob, fridge and everything you need for cooking. It\u2019s a ten-minute ride to the village, a quarter of an hour to the widest beach in Europe, and you\u2019ll soon find yourself cycling into the Oosterkwelder, the quietest part of the island where you\u2019ll hardly come across anyone. The campsite is situated on the edge of the Wadden Sea, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2019In the evening, it all quietens down. There\u2019s little traffic, little light pollution; all you can hear is the sound of the sea and watch the sun sink into the North Sea in the north-west.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you want to really get to know the island? Then go on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deoorsprong.nl\/en\/mudflats-on-schiermonnikoog\/\">mudflat walk starting from Schiermonnikoog<\/a>. There is also a table with two chairs and crockery for two people. Electricity and Wi-Fi are available. Compact and cosy, and all named after plants you\u2019ll find in the surrounding dunes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For families and larger groups, there are four De Waard family tents, each sleeping four people: Sternduin, Stuifduin, Kobbeduin and Willemsduin. The classic green-and-white tent, spacious enough to live in, with beds, cooking facilities and an awning for the evenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not any more luxurious than necessary, just comfortable enough. We were in a flat in the large farmhouse which is normally rented out for groups, of course. As a result, it may have been furnished somewhat simply, but everything you need is amply provided and the space in and around the farm for the children 1 big party! We had a dormitory upstairs with no fewer than 10 bunk beds for the four of us, so plenty of room ;-). Also so nice that the children are always allowed to walk into the barn, which is of course very exciting ;-).
